Dr. Timothy Doyle,
Founder, President, CTO

Dr. Timothy Doyle is the originator of the technology featured by Calliope Biophysics, LLC. Dr. Doyle received his BS, MS, and PhD degrees in physics from Utah State University. From 1981-1988, he worked as an industrial scientist in fields as diverse as seismology, nuclear reactor safety, and materials science at the Idaho National Laboratory. From 1991-2004, he developed non-destructive evaluation methods for Trident missile rocket motors and the Space Shuttle Solid Rocket Boosters at ATK Launch Systems, Promontory, UT. As an associate professor of physics from 2004-2018, his work focused on developing medical devices for cancer detection, surgical instruments, and tissue engineering. He is the principal inventor on nine patents in these fields.

Dr. Doyle is the owner and founder of Calliope Biophysics, LLC. He uses his extensive technical expertise to guide and direct the development, testing, and patenting of medical devices. In his academic career, Dr. Doyle was the principal investigator on 42 grants from industry, federal agencies, state agencies, and private foundations, with funding totaling $2.36M. These included an NIH R21 grant to develop and clinically test an intraoperative ultrasonic method to detect malignant tissue in breast cancer surgical margins at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Michael Bennett,
Co-Founder, CEO

Michael Bennett has been part of this project since 2016, when he was recruited as an undergraduate research assistant at Utah Valley University. He assisted in acoustical analysis and design of the instrument. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physics in 2018 from Utah Valley University. He later graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a Masters in Biomedical Innovation and Development in 2022, where he specialized in medical device development. Michael has 3 years of experience in project management and medical device development, and 6 years of experience in quality and quality management. He is a member of the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS).

Michael is the project manager. He is the primary point of contact with physicians in developing design inputs, developing the regulatory plan, project management, fundraising, and assisting in design.

Michael Salisbury,
Co-Founder, Director of Engineering

Michael Salisbury graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering from Brigham Young University in 2014 and then worked for Sandvik Coromant producing Polycrystalline Diamond tooling for the aerospace industry. He joined this project in 2016 as an engineer and student researcher after returning to school to pursue a career in medicine. After a series of opportunities came his way, Michael decided to return to the engineering profession, where he was able to diversify his skill sets by learning software development. He has been using this software and manufacturing background to design and build the electrical, mechanical and software systems of equipment that manufacture nano material, as well as the custom application machinery for various customers of this nano material.

Michael is the lead engineer for the physical device and system design. He has 8 years of experience in manufacturing process and machine design, 2 years of consumer product design, and 6 years of software development experience in projects ranging from full stack web development to desktop, Linux and mobile applications.
